Hello,
The goal of these updates is to be as open as possible on what we are working on and give any useful context and information for those who would like to contribute.
Of course at the moment, there are mostly Red Hatters attending. The question is What would a non RedHatter community member be interesting to hear about Che and start contributing to Che?
With these updates, as Ilya has mentioned, anyone can learn a lot about work in progress from each other's teams. Non Red Hatters contributing to Che are also welcome giving an update.
As Mario has mentioned, I was also "external" at a time (Serli and Red Hat) and it was very hard to know what was going on the Codenvy side. Any contributors (non Red Hat or non team lead) should be able to know what's going on in all the teams. We don't want new contributors to be in that situation feeling completely lost not knowing who is doing what.
Without these updates, external contributors may not be aware that we are working on a IntelliJ editor or a tekton plugin. Instead of removing it, it would go advertising this even more: For instance, pushing the recording to youtube (once we get the account back ...) and promote the recording on Twitter.
It's quite short, once a week. If you don't want to participate in that, fine, It is not mandatory.
Also if the format is not perfect, feel free to suggest improvements. Maybe we could add a question answer section after the team updates during the call.
Then I am good with the idea to try anything new as long as we are giving the opportunity to anyone to come and see what's going on in this Che project and the freedom to interact and ask questions:
Let's give a try with Artem's last proposal!
Again it is not because there are mostly Red Hatters that we have to do things only for Red Hatters. If by chance, someone from outside comes to that project and attends that meeting and has found a team useful to continue or start contributing to Che with any other community members, it would make these team updates a success. Although I am a Red Hatter, I found these updates very useful: it is scheduled, you hear from the project leads what they are working on and what's next. Attendees don't have to prepare anything, they can just come, listen and can ask questions, etc ...
