[udig-devel] Save project (was on udig-users)

Since this conversation moved over to implementation I am taking it here:
but it was much hated (how to turn it off was the first question every developer asked when starting
 to use uDig).
:) developers... guess what every user askes me when I show udig for a little bit? Project saving and moving.
My turn for really?
 Save is still responsible for:
 - will do any outstanding commit
 - will save any temporary resource out to disk

Andrea we could make "auto save" a preference option, and there is no
reason you could not add a "Save As".
Hmmm, the save as would be important, I thought that was automatically
taken from the eclipse workspace management and therefore somehow
burried in some eclipse plugin.
Nope it is a command; go ahead and implement :-)
Btw, sooner or later we will have to deal with the projet export or
move and everything related. I'm not sure if the relative paths work
for everything, Jesse was working on it.
I put a round of debugging into it (when we were having difficulty with projects on drives other than C). It should be pretty good. Also the Export to "OWS Context" wizard showed that Export/Import at the Map level can be done smoothly.
Consolidate is also something that has to be finished. Perhaps this could be some task to work on in
the GIS hacking week in June. Lot's of stuff to do :)
I am not sure what you mean by Consolidation (dragging all the referenced resources into the project folder so it can be zipped up?).

I am going to have to pull the same stunt I did with the (Layers vs Legend) request; break out more views :-) If we want to get into managing data then we need to make a "Data" view; rather that what we have right now that is more about tracking "live" resource use.
