Re: [ptp-dev] module usage

At Los Alamos, we use modules to set environment to run LANL installed tools like compilers. I'm wondering who else within listening distance is using modules? Apparently LLNL is not, at least on the machine I tried. (A module is just a shell script that set a users environment variables).

We use them here at the University of Oregon. Why do you ask? Are you thinking of adding some capability for Eclipse/Java to interact with Environment Modules?

Yes. For example, the remote environment settings probably need to be saved in a project so that we can ensure that they exist when a remote make is done. Is TAU storing environment variable somewhere? How do you pass them to your tools when they are run?

There are environment variables that affect the measurement library's operation, such as which PAPI counters to use. No path information is necessary.
