RE: [udig-devel] catalog service url retrieval

Hello,
I have been trying t oread but udig.refractions server is down.

I have been trying with:

getStatus and getIdentifier but I get:

CONNECTED http://localhost
CONNECTED http://localhost
CONNECTED http://udig.refractions.net/search/google-xml.php?

And if I cut network connection I still getting same result so getStatus is completely useless...
About getIdentifier, I got internal udig URL or a null result (may be for the local image?)

net.refractions.udig.catalog.internal.CatalogInfoImpl@da5318
net.refractions.udig.catalog.internal.CatalogInfoImpl@1858aa4
null

I am using my own mapserver in different machine, also a local jpg file and NASA server and that's all I guess.

It kind of works the other way ....

1. Look up the service to see if it is already in the catalog; if so use it
2. Create the Service
3. Try out connecting to it
4. if it works add it to the Catalog and use it

The code examples in the developers guide show how to do this
(http://udig.refractions.net/confluence/display/DEV/2+Catalog#2Catalog-LocalCatalog).
This example shows checking that it works by connecting using the
getInfo() method. I keep meaning to make a single method call to do
this work ...
