Re: [udig-devel] Connecting to Oracle Express with RC 12

Oracle users out there?  Any suggestions?  As far as I know you are doing everything correct.  The oracle datastore is not rock solid, also you have to have the Spatial Extensions installed (mind you I think that is now standard).

Hi all,

I have a question which I assume has a simple answer, but I can’t find the answer.

I try to use uDig RC12 against an local Oracle Express database (10.2.0.1.0). For the driver I select ojdbc14.jar from the oracle installation.

Connecting to the database is going all right. After filling in host, user, password and database I get all the schema’s I expect. Put when I select one (which contains spatial data) I get the message “unable to recognize service”.

I’ve tried a lot of different things, like putting the ojdbc14.jar file in different directories, installing uDig in different directories, but always with the same message.

If anyone can tell me how to connect to Oracle (and make me able to use spatial data from Oracle) I would be very thankfull.

Thanks in advance
