The problem with WFS is that the Schema's are so complex it is easy for the data producers to have problems with their data and easy for bugs on our side as well.  I can't be certain that the WFS is not our fault without more detailed look.  But the exception implies that there is some problem with the data.  Less strict parsers can probably deal with it and there is in the works new development to fix this issue.  But it won't be ready for a few month at least.

Hi Jesse:
NOAA probably has a WMS server but I was trying to test WFS capabilities so that was why I went the WFS route. Thanks for getting back to me.

Hi Bob,

From the stack trace produced by uDig it looks like their actual data isn't completely inline with their schema.  Not uncommon but uDig (at the moment) is very strict about this.  To be sure I'd have to spend some time looking into the problem which isn't easy.  I gather that there isn't a corresponding WMS server?

I cannot get uDig to work with this server. Has someone got uDig to work with this yet? The URL is at:

and the document that explains how to get ArcCatalog and ArcMap to use it is at: http://www.weather.gov/mdl/XML/Design/WFS_example.htm

I have tried to get uDig to work with this WFS both from home and at work (here I have set up a proxy server in uDig to go through the government's proxy server) but have had errors in both cases. uDig can connect and shows a layer from the WFS but won't draw and it displays an error message as shown in the attached graphic of a screen capture of uDig. I am using uDig 1.1.0RC10a.

Thanks,
