He told me that uDig complained about that it cannot instantiate some
Java developer perspectives. He immediately shut it down, and afterwards
his eclipse had some strange log messages on first start.

My guess is that, as both are based on the eclipse platform, they tried
the same place to store their meta data.

This was with some early udig version some time ago, so current versions
may have this fixed. That's why I ask.
