Re: [udig-devel] SDK installation unders linux

Hello,

do not bother with my previous message

by reading the developer documentation I have better understood how is the svn repository organized and have eventually found where the cotemplates.xml and codeformater.xml are.

the location given in the tutorial (at page http://udig.refractions.net/confluence/display/UDIG/Eclipse+Preferences) does not work so here is the right adress : http://svn.geotools.org/udig/trunk/plugins/net.refractions.udig.doc/

I then go back to my installation

Hi Vincent,

If you have a moment, feel free to update the Wiki if you can think of a better way that someone else might avoid the confusion you have encountered :)

I actually have the same regarding Mozilla and Eclipse on Linux. I haven't actually bothered to fix it, but I believe Jesse had at some point.

If you are using Ubuntu, I think the latest version of Eclipse in the repositories is 3.1.1, and that might be properly configured to talk to Mozilla. I installed mine manually though.

Hello !

I have finally managed to get a nearly working SDK (layer updates do function) from the repository installation

yes, I would be happy to bring my comments about the installation on linux (I have found an easy procedure to handle the javahl problem), I wil go update the wiki while it is still fresh in my mind.

Nevertheless, the information tool is still not working giving me this exact message in the eclipse console :

Unhandled event loop exception
Reason:
No more handles [Unknown Mozilla path (MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME not set)]

This is quite annoying since it leaves uDig without a fundamental function of a GIS. Concerning your hint, I am indeed on ubuntu but Eclipse is not available as a package. If you have another idea I will happily try it.

Another remark : the repository checkout using uDig.psf does not work (it seems that the problem comes from uDig.psf itself)

One last thing since you might wonder why does someone start working on uDig. In my case, I have proposed my own academic projet for my final year in my telecomunication carreer and I have chosen to develop it on uDig.

after the usual installation hardships, the fun part can begin!
