When working with the default GeoServer installation (or possibly any WFS) the request process leaves several Feature Collection Buffer threads orphaned.

These threads yeild between each other and use 100% of the cpu while waiting for data that never arrives.
A screen snapshot is attached of a debugger session.

Experiments were conducted with the states layer from geoserver with a single state (mane) requested.
