Yes the reason is to replace it with these views that have a specific 
purpose:
- Database
- Web
- FileSystem
- Search
- Map Graphics

Catalog view is more of a good debugging tool - showing your "live" 
connections.  Shapefiles are more naturally shown in a file system of 
drives and folders.  I am unclear if Search and Web are different.

I think the goal was to have less steps, and use a "normal" file chooser 
allowing multiple selection.  We did create a file system wizard page - 
but the result did not look normal.  Perhaps Jesse can send a screen 
snapshot.
