[sumo-user] Adjusting strategical lane changing

I am trying to understand tactical lane changing in sumo using [1],[2] and [3] but could not understand how SUMO implements this model. In [4] I see variables such as lcStrategic, lcCooperative,lcSpeedGain.But I do not understand how these values affect tactical lane changing.  I want to change the tactical lane changing model by simply changing the threshold value for speedGainProbability. But couldn't understand how to accomplish this. If its only possible by editing source code, and recompiling then I want to understand the effect of these parameters much better. Is there any source I missed for this?
