Re: [sumo-user] vehicle mass and loading - emissions

Hi Natalia,
no idea. Does your SUMO_HOME point to the correct location? Can you send your scenario?

Best regards,
Michael

Hi Michael,

this is weird..It doesn’t have any impact on emissions or fuel. I
tried also a similar change as yours either for mass or loading of
vehicles in the PC_G_EU4.PHEMlight.veh file located in the
Sumo\data\emissions\PHEMlight directory. Also, in route file I
specified the corresponding emission class as
emission_class="PHEMlight/PC_G_EU4"/ . It seems that it recognises the
database as it produces emissions for the specified class (in the
emission-output file).

I run the simulation for 1000sec.

Any other idea for this?

Hi Natalia,
it works here. I changed the vehicle loading to 5000 and the fuel
consumption roughly doubled.
Which value did you try? It is probably not very sensitive.

Michael

hello,

I finally tried to change the vehicle loading in the PC_G_EU4.PHEMLight.veh file but I didn’t get different emission results.

The files of PHEMLight database that uses the free version of SUMO for the simulations, they are included in the path DLR\Sumo\data\emissions\PHEMlight, right?

I used version 0.31 on Windows OS.

Thank you Michael.
So, just to confirm again the following: the emission curves and
factors that exist in the PHEMLight database do not depend on these
values (vehicle mass/loading), right?

Natalia

Hi Natalia,
I never tried myself but yes you should get different result if you change those values. The loading represents the additional mass added via the driver itself, the passengers and the luggage etc. Just telling from the code there seems to be a part of the rotational energy which just depends on the emtpy vehicle mass, that's why the two values are separated. For details I think you must read the relevant publications
on PHEMlight.

Hello,
I would like to ask if it is possible to change the vehicle mass or loading in the .veh files of the PHEMLight database without changing the emission factors and curves that exist in the database. That is to say, if I change the value of the vehicle mass/loading (e.g. in PC_G_EU4_PHEMLight.veh) , will I get different emission results (considering that the emission curves will remain the same).
Also, what does the vehicle loading represent?
thank you,
Regards,
Natalia
