Re: [rdf4j-dev] possible release delay

Good news, our IP log has been approved - great work everyone for keeping things up to date and properly logged - it's certainly made this review a lot easier! The official review doesn't conclude until Wednesday CoB (I think they're still using US hours for that btw), but I'm reasonably confident that there will be no further obstacles.

I'll start working on release notes. If nobody objects, I'm thinking we may wait with the official release until next Thursday (May 27) though: there are a few things I'd like a chance to complete, and I'll have a bit more time on my hands next week to take care of them.

Any last-minute things you want to get in, please use great care to not merge anything that is not release-ready.

I'll go through the current list of open PRs myself as well and see what's ready to go. When I'm confident we're good to go, I'll merge the develop branch into main and then we can start using develop for 4.0 development.

One request in particular: can I ask you all to go over the list of changes that we've done for this release and see if there are any specific things in the project documentation that may need updating?

See https://github.com/eclipse/rdf4j/milestones/3.7.0

I would also appreciate updates on issues planned against 3.7.0 that are currently still open - would postponing release with a week make it possible to complete them, or should we just reschedule?

Keep in mind that the intent is to focus on 4.0 development after this release, and another minor release is not planned (we can do one if really necessary at some point, but I want you to think in terms of "not happening" - don't assume we'll do another minor just because your favorite improvement is ready :) ).

Cheers,

Jeen

Just a heads up that review of the IP log (see https://dev.eclipse.org/ipzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=23254 ) is taking a bit longer than anticipated, which may lead to us having to postpone the 3.7.0 release for a few days. If we don't have the OK by tomorrow I'll do a milestone build for 3.7 instead, and we move final release by a week.

Fortunately, release review has been going on in parallel without any real problems, so as soon as the IP log has been approved we should be good to go immediately.

Cheers,

Jeen
