HDT should have excellent performance for simple ?s ?p ?o queries (and joins), but I don’t think it performs well on other queries.
And as far as I know it’s pretty much designed to be a read-only format (updating would require recalculating / updating / moving around various parts of the file)

That being said, I do think HDT is currently a bit underappreciated, or at least for some use cases…
