Ed,
please stop blaiming Xtext for any given bug in the world. As you can
clearly see, the Xtext related issue in #304367 has Xtext related
classes in the stack while this one https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=340113
has not. I cannot say for sure that it's not a bug in the Xtext code
base but I'm actually pretty confident about it. Please note that we
use opened editors with (automatically re-)generated code all the time
and never faced this situation.

The Editor Pane problem has similarities to https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=304367
so perhaps its Xtext.
