+1

Thanks, Jens.
Any comments from any other PMC member (Benjamin…?).
If I myself am allowed to vote, I give a +1 as well :-)

So, then

+1 to both

No, they are not at all a main feature, they are only required at build & test time of the project.

I already had a discussion about this with Benjamin previously, please see the attached e-mail.

Hm, so the question is for me if these parts are a main feature of
Eclipse Smart Home. If yes, I would look to me more like a pre-requisite
request.

Hi Jens,

As for 8661 I did not figure out what the request actually contains. I
see a reference to a feature ID, but not which libraries actually are
part of this feature.
This feature includes the Groovy Compiler 2.3.4, which is used within SmartHome to compile and executes tests that are written in Groovy.

Best regards,
Kai

Hi,

Besides the stuff in Orbit, I have just entered two „WORKSWITH“ CQs that are hosted elsewhere and where I would like to trigger the PMC discussion right now. These are:
http://dev.eclipse.org/ipzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=8661
and
http://dev.eclipse.org/ipzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=8662

The first one is only for test execution and nothing else, the second one is a lib that can be (optionally) used by a solution based on Eclipse SmartHome by the user, but which is not distributed with the project.

Best regards,
Kai

Hi Benjamin,

I am currently moving towards a first (0.7.0) release of Eclipse SmartHome and am thus checking, what there is to clean up. All those Orbit dependencies are libs that are actually packaged into the Designer, which is an Eclipse RCP product - I hadn’t previously created any CQs for them as the code itself does not have any dependencies on these libraries - and there is indeed a hell of a lot that goes into an RCP app...

Btw, what I am unclear about is how to deal with dependencies on other Eclipse projects - see https://dev.eclipse.org/ipzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=8622. If you have any advice, it would be great :-)

Cheers,
Kai

Kai,

Could you briefly advise on why there are so many CQs popping up for
SmartHome? These new dependencies don't look funky per se, but I'm just
curious as to why there would be so many at once :)

Benjamin.
