Re: [iot-pmc] CQ #8661 and CQ #8662

No, they are not at all a main feature, they are only required at build & test time of the project.

I already had a discussion about this with Benjamin previously, please see the attached e-mail.

Oops – sorry :(
Hi Kai, hi Thomas,

The build and test dependencies should indeed have a CQ, but as indicated in [1] you can group all these dependencies under a common CQ – and the approval is usually much faster to get than regular Cqs.

Hope this helps?

Hi Benjamin,

I guess this e-mail got lost somewhere on the way, so I would like to ask for your help here once more.

Thanks!
Kai

Dear project mentor :-)

This was indeed new to me - I have to do a CQ for everything that is required during the build/test?
Do you have an example of another (Tycho-based) project build of what is required? What about basics like Maven itself, its modules like surefire, wagon, tycho, junit and the rest of the internet that Maven downloads…?

Would be nice to get some advice from you on this!

Cheers,
Kai

Hi Kai;

Thanks for the explanation...  It was as I had expected.

As such, you will want to discuss with Smarthome's mentors/Tech PMC to
determine if you need to raise a "Workswith" CQ related to the spring content.
Please see the Eclipse Third Party Dependency Policy [1] and/or the Eclipse
Build and Test Dependency Policy [2].  I'll leave that with you.

This request for the project licensed content is now approved!

Kind Regards,
Sharon

All those Orbit dependencies are libs that are actually packaged into the Designer, which is an Eclipse RCP product - I hadn’t previously created any CQs for them as the code itself does not have any dependencies on these libraries - and there is indeed a hell of a lot that goes into an RCP app...
