[cosmos-dev] UPDATED: COSMOS code reviews for i7 ERs - Management Domain, Broker, and MDRs
|
Mark,
I have updated the list below with your MDR ERs. Please note that we have the Broker / Management Domain / MDRs covered for now from a planning perspective. The GUI aspects should be defined shortly.
And then, post the face-to-face meeting, we need to consider some of the ancillary (yet critical issues) such as Adoptability / Security / etc.
Thanks,
Jimmy

Subject: COSMOS code reviews for i7 ERs - Management Domain, Broker, and MDRs
Mark,
OK.. how about this as a code-walk through plan:
1. We do code reviews with the COSMOS team on the Broker & the MD ERs for i7. These are the following ERs:
i7 COSMOS DC Data Broker extended - COSMOS Bugzilla 204921
i7 COSMOS DC Management Domain - COSMOS Bugzilla 205658
2. May we request to be included in code review on the i7 MDR ERs, that IBM you are doing currently?
204959: Provide reusable CMDBf APIs for adopters that intend to provide a CMDBf query/registration service
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=204959 <https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=204959>
186247: Expose the SML repository API as a WSDM capability
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=186247 <https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=186247>
200254: Refactor Navigator and Properties Servlet to integrate with Broker APIs
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=200254 <https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=200254>
200274: Refactor Navigator and Properties servlet to create CMDBf queries
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=200274 <https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=200274>
3. Per your earlier communication, the i7 UI should be OK, as we have the CA UI sub-team (Monica / JT) working closely with Sheldon Lee Loy.
This is TBD; with follow up due from Sheldon Lee Loy / John Todd / Monica Lupu. This is a next week item (week of Oct 15), when we hope to know the exact division of the GUI ERs.
4. We then revisit the efficacy / value of doing these cross-COSMOS code reviews in i8.
If no one has any issues, we will add these items to the plans on our side.
Thanks,
Jimmy Mohsin

Mark & team,
Given our current refactoring efforts, I had a thought [that is preventing me from sleeping :-), just kidding, perhaps I am in HAWAII ]...
1. Is it worhtwhile to institute code reviews DURING an iteration itself, as opposed to doing them after an iteration is complete?
<mdw>i think this makes sense.</mdw>
2. If you think this is a good idea, we should do this AT LEAST for the "more critical" ERS, i.e. for ERs that have numerous touchpoint in the world of the COSMOS DC.
<mdw>agree</mdw>
3. I think this will align the coding with design UPFRONT. Of course, the flip is that we will add some drag to the flight...
<mdw>understood, but i think this is a way to help keep us all on the same page.</mdw>
Thoughts?
