Hmm.  I'll adjust this test UI code, and enhance the error output so that it shows stack trace.

Obviously I'm not getting the same Exception in my local tests so perhaps it's something related to our Eclipse environments.  Could you please report some of your environment info on the bug at:  https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=505830

Hi Jens.   Do you get error dialog when you try to connect?   This isn't the error that appears for me if the server is not up/available.   Rather that's this:



So perhaps there's something else going on with your install of these bundles.   Would it be possible for you to look in the Error Log view and see if there's more info (and stack trace) for this NullPointerException?

I've created a bug [1] for this so that we don't have to clog the mailing list with details of our configs/environments, etc.
