Re: [gef-dev] Luna and Gerrit

Ed,
looking at SimRel Requirements ( http://wiki.eclipse.org/SimRel/Simultaneous_Release_Requirements#State_intent_early_.28M4.29) I cannot find any indication for a different opt-in deadline related to old projects: "To join a Simultaneous Release, Projects must have stated their intent to do so by M4, at the latest." And I also think that a simple message is not sufficient either: "Projects are expected to have a release record completed that includes (at least tentative) plan information prior to announcing their intent to participate."). However, as M3 is more than 3 weeks to go, I think it is not unlikely we will have declared it beforehand, even if a project lead change is initiated in advance. Furthermore, I think that all our team members are quite aware we are doing nothing different to an election here, and I would thus like to encourage all remaining members to give their opinion as well.
Cheers, Alexander
Hi
M4 is the deadline for new projects. I think David is threatening to
disable non-ongoing projects before M3. It only takes a simple
message to cross-project-dev.
[I'm surprised Wayne hasn't jumped in on this, perhaps he will once
you ask the EMO to recognize the change. I'm sure Alexander will be
an excellent project leader and everyone wants him as project lead,
but my experience on other projects is that Eclipse requires an
election for project lead; it can be very informal. So far you have
a nomination and a few congratulation emails that can be taken as
+1's. A full house of +1's will ease the way with the EMO.]

Hi Fabian,
for me its quite natural that GEF will (have to) participate
in Luna (actually I have already started to contribute our
milestones to the Luna simrel repo). The participation intent
has not been declared by Anthony because of his intention to
step down as our lead beforehand, so that is within the
responsibility of his successor. However, as the deadline for
the intent is Luna M4 (20.12.2013), I do not think there is any
need to fear we will miss the deadline because of the project
lead change (it would definitely be the first issue on my list).
While I don't have any personal experiences with Gerrit,
anything that makes it easier for our contributors to
participate IMHO would be more than welcome. Does anybody in our
team (or contributors) have experiences yet?
Cheers,
Alexander
