Re: [epp-dev] Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers for M1

Closing the loop... I've merged this change today, and all M2 packages (including the Java EE) could be built.

Thanks,
Markus

I removed the capabilities to see if we actually needed/used them.

But apparently forgot to also remove them from the EPP Javaee feature. Here's a PR for that:

Sorry about that!

You are right, usually it is a missing +1, or sometimes an explicit -1 from the responsible package maintainer.

When we were delivering RC builds, I did sometimes send reminders by private mail, sometimes I just looked at the package and tried to balance between the risk of releasing a package (and finding bugs in time) or not releasing a package...

But in this particular case with the Java EE M1 package I wrote in my initial mail [0]

With the exception of the JavaEE package (some dependency problems), all packages could be built.

By looking at https://ci.eclipse.org/packaging/job/simrel.epp-tycho-build/1/console it is the capabilities bundle that is missing in the repositories.

Thanks,
Markus

I imagine it's because the person(s) who normally smoke tests this and reports back with a +1 didn't do so, perhaps because summer PTO [0].

No +1, no published package. Right, Markus?

Based on WTP process doc [1], it appears the guilty parties are:

  • Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers: Chuck Bridgham
  • Eclipse IDE for _javascript_ and Web Developers: Ilya Buziuk

Maybe this process ought to get revamped with some automation?

Any idea why 'Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers for M1' is not on https://www.eclipse.org/downloads/packages/release/2018-09/m1? There are people who ask for it.
