You may be able to describe what some of the buttons do?

That just worked for me fine right now on windows.
I find it useful to see what the amount of color in each band is up to.
(indeed you can see it change as you set the gamma value; without the feedback you are forced to hit apply a lot)
What steps do I need to do to see the "Band number 3 is not valid" problem?
