Also more than one user pointed me to the fact that the export project
should really be a "save as" entry in the File menu. Since it is doing
really that I agree with it.
Mind if I change it? What are your thoughts?

yeah,

with the "save as"  function I can save my project without closing it. A good chance to recover the opened project when Udig crash !
