udig intro screens at first run are missleading
-----------------------------------------------
Key: UDIG-1676
URL: http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/UDIG-1676
Project: uDIG
Issue Type: Improvement
Components: application
Affects Versions: UDIG 1.2.RC3
Reporter: Andrea Antonello
>From an IRC discussion two problems:
- One thing I notice is that when opening uDig, you are presented with "Some Linux users have experience issues with map display being slow ..." It would be great if that popup could be removed. It sends a very strong message that "This software is likely to have bugs - use at your own risk" -
- One more suggestion I noticed when testing 3.0. It seems that I couldn't do anything until I closed the Eclipse "Welcome" tab. Which made me think that UDig didn't work. -
I kind of agree with both of them.
So the questions are:
1) can we remove that ugly linux warning? I am quite sure that this is no longer a problem?
2) is there a way to close the welcome tab when anything is done? Or hide the toolbars when the welcome page is open?
