[udig-devel] Re: RCP Tutorial
|
Agree 100%. We don't need a step-by-setp - we do need some outlining
information that'd allow us to get started.

Jesse (and company),
Thanks for your reply. I imagine that it will be a while before a tutorial
is ready. And I'm willing to make an offer. If I get this stuff figured
out and have enough success that I reach the point where I feel I can write
about the subject with some authority, I'd be willing to attempt writing a
tutorial. I can't make any firm promises because I can't be certain of how
well it will go. And, at the very least, it would take a few months to
reach a point where it's reasonable for me to write on the topic. Still, I
felt that since I'm so willing to ask for something, I should be willing to
try to give back something in return.
In the mean time, I think what I and others like me could use is a general
outline... not something so detailed as a tutorial (or so time consuming to
create), but something expanding on your last posting on the subject.
Perhaps you or your group could mention which plug-ins to use, which classes
to extend, and maybe the ten steps (or so) toward implementing an
application. I think that, from there, everyone would have enough
background information to be able to dig into the Javadoc and other
documentation successfully. I'm also think that there are quite a large
number of people out there who could benefit from just such a thing.
Thanks again for all your help.
Gary
