Re: [udig-devel] Spanish?
|
I think I was the one that expressed interest in a Spanish translation.
I'm glad to hear that the tools and experience are in place to make this
job as painless as possible.
I just downloaded and gave 1.0RC3 a spin. It looks a lot more polished
and robust than 0.8, and I can see that it includes a lot of feedback
since then. Unfortunately, I think at this point uDig doesn't have
basic features I need to make it a day-to-day tool for my projects. For
example, the ability to style features in a layer according to
attributes, or to pre-filter features to display according to a set of
attribute criteria. Also, the absence of "analysis" features (buffering,
overlay, etc) and a table-based viewer for attributes.
For what I'm doing, uDig's incorporation of OGC services is not yet
enough of a benefit compare to the absence of some basic/traditional GIS
functionalities. For me, QGIS might fit the bill better, for now. So, I
can't justify spending time on translations. I'm listening in on the
mailing list, though, and I'll be watching its progress and testing new
versions every couple of months.
Thanks. Good luck with 1.0. Cheers,
-Emilio

A while a go we had some users interested in a Spanish translation? I
can set up a space if there are any volunteers interested in the work.
