Hi John,
what is the output if you start sumo-gui from the command line?
Is the x11 server running? Can you run other programs with the gui in
your virtual machine (e.g. xclock)?
Your version is v1_0_xxx, I have version v1_2_xxx for this smooth lane
change fork
