Re: [sumo-user] Issue trip distance with meso simulation

Hi Florian,
its not a bug, its a feature: https://sumo.dlr.de/docs/Simulation/Distances.html
The short answer is to not rely on x,y (or lon, lat) coordinates for (short-range) distance computation.

Jakob

Hi Jakob,

we are running several mesoscopic simulation and extracted the FCD output with a time frequency for every second.

We looked more in detail to the trips of each vehicle and discovered that there is a discrepancy between trip distance

  • calculate based on vehicle location (distance)

or

  • calculate based on time steps and vehicle speed (Distance2)

See the table below.

Is this issue known?

We thought to fix the issue to adjust the latest speed value for each location.

Any other suggestion?

Best

Florian
