Dear Stephan,
thanks for your new rj and rj.rd packages.
Hopwever, something with the quotes doesn't work fine,
see the example below
character(0)
> a <- 1
> ls()
[1] "ÿþaÿþ" # instead of "a"
Do you know why this happens, and more how to fix it.

I uploaded a first Windows binary build of the RJ packages for R 4.0 to the testing repository:

If somebody observes a new issue with R 4.0 or the new R packages in general, please report it.
