Here's the link to the visualization package that I mentioned, VisIt:

www.llnl.gov/visit

If you click "Downloads" at the top of the page you can get the most recent version. I don't recommend building it from scratch unless you are feeling brave and have a few hours to burn.

There are example data files that you can play with in the "data" directory.
