Re: [ptp-dev] NPE in Remote Tools restarting resource manager

Yes, and we knew this for the SC10 tutorial, because there's a slide on that. :-) (Altho I had forgotten.)
Module 3, page 3-33.
"NOTE: On some Linux systems, starting a resource manager may appear to hang.
Open the window you launched Eclipse from and check if there is a prompt for a kerberos username.
Hit “enter” twice if you see the prompt."

A couple more clues, Beth and Al, after talking with Galen -
a) this is a known linux issue (or at least reported previously): often in
the window that launched eclipse, there will be a prompt for one's
Kerberos login - at the shell level. This fixes a "hanging" RSE (ssh)
connection, that is waiting for, well, username and password.
b) but, even if one adds the Kerberos login at that point, RSE may pop a
password box that expects one's private key passphrase (this is for the
case where you have the private keys installed on your local linux
laptop).
c) after a and b, then remote tools apparently uses the established RSE
ssh connection, and all is good.

This obviously isn't what I see in Windows.

I have a hunch, that this mechanism - establish a RSE connection first,
then establish the remote tools connection, may enable one-time passwords
on Kraken. Galen is going to try that and report back -- we'll see if
that hunch is worth anything.

I think we may want to put this into bugzilla.
