Re: [ptp-dev] Please vote: elimination of the ptp newsgroup
|
Actually, I *do* read other newsgroups, but not routinely: generally when
I'm researching an eclipse problem,
and that's usually when I notice the newsgroup request :-)
+1
Mailing lists come right into our mail readers, just begging for a
response. :-)

The technology.ptp newsgroup cannot be moved from the Technology to
the Tools project; the old group must be removed and a new group
created. I suggest that we don't create a new newsgroup, but use the
ptp-user mailing list instead. We can add something to the web site
to direct new users to this mailing list.
Beth and I (the developers who
mostly read/respond to the newsgroup) find it a significant chore.
This is the only newsgroup that either of us read, so we have to
specially fire up a newsreader or go to the newsgroup web page. By
using a mailing list instead of a newsgroup, we will be much more
responsive to user questions and problems.
proposal.
