Re: [platform-releng-dev] Contributing to the rebuild

I fully respect the authority of the platform-ui team to have the final
word on platform-ui issues. I question the timing as this menu has
consequences in JDT UI and other clients. We have other actions in our
context menus that configure the project. Will we have to do a last minute
polish request to move everything from the package explorers 'Build path'
menu to the new 'Configure' menu? Will PDE and WTP and all others do the
same? What if an other product already provided a 'Configure' menu?
This is simple not something to sneak in a RC1 rebuild.
As said in the bug, this menu will stay forever, no second chance. Why not
using the extra days to continue the discussion, get the PMC involved and
find the
best solution? Maybe finding a better name for the menu.

yes, we did it deliberately (but not with malice aforethought :-)

I did. As you can see (if *you* read the comments) that the Platform UI
position was clear. It was a small change that could provide a gain for
the community in 3.4. We never waivered from this position. Other
concerns that were brought up were valid, of course, but the potential
improvement was worth it. Disagreeing with you does not make us wrong ...
it means that the team responsible for this has made a decision.
I would suggest you refrain from using comments like "read the comments"
unless you are *absolutely* sure we never did ... it diminishes your
position. I mean honestly, how can we take you seriously.
However, it appears we must remove this for other reasons.
