[platform-releng-dev] perf_31x branch of org.eclipse.releng created for performance testing eclipse 3.1

A branch perf_31x of the org.eclipse.releng project has been created to run performance baseline tests on eclipse 3.1.  The perf_31 branch tag created earlier has been deleted.  We discovered that we could no longer use the R3_1_maintenance branch to build the test plug-ins as there are changes in the JUnit correctness tests which no longer compile against 3.1

We will start using the perf_31x branch of org.eclipse.releng this week.  As you make changes to your performance tests in the HEAD stream, please remember to backport any changes to this branch.

Thanks,

Sonia

Jerome,

we have not started using this branch, however we can look into the possibility of renaming it to perf_31x as you suggest.  More to come....

[platform-releng-dev] Request for clarification on performance        branches naming

After some investigation, I found out that branch perf_31 for
org.eclipse.releng was used to run the performance tests for the 3.1
maintenance stream.
Note that for the 3.0 maintenance stream, branch perf_301 was used and
branch perf_30 was the base to compare against.

This leads to 2 questions:
- which branch is used to build the base for 3.1 ?
- why was the name perf_31 chosen for the 3.1 maintenance stream ? (I agree
that perf_301 was not a good name - especially when we were at version
3.0.2 - but I would have preferred perf_31maintenance, or better perf_31x).

Thanks for clarifying this,
Jerome
