[pde-dev] Mail or News?

Hi

I'm new to the list and had a look at the archives. Sometimes people
advised to post a question to the newsgroups instead of the mailing
lists. What is the difference between the two (except the technical
difference of course)? What kind of questions should go to the mailing
list and which to the newsgroups?
