Re: [jakarta.ee-community] Jakarta EE Articles for next Eclipse/Jakarta EE Newsletter

Hi Stephanie,

I have a proposal.

"The Future of Jakarta EE: Specifications, Profiles and Platforms"

Some of the greatest strengths of Java EE has been its breadth of technologies and its backward compatibility.  With each new version of Java EE new functionality was added and existing functionality improved, but the result is a sprawling cornucopia of solutions both old and modern.  While making the platform more and more comprehensive and maintaining backward compatibility are laudable goals, is also created a platform that is intimidating and difficult to master.

Jakarta EE provides the Java enterprise community with an opportunity to protect past investments and legacy deployments while allowing the Jakarta EE platform to continue to evolve and remain relevant.  What follows is a strategy for using specifications, profiles, and platforms that enable enterprise Java to evolve without abandoning existing, legacy deployments.

My name is Stephanie Swart, I am the current editor of the Eclipse Newsletter at the Eclipse Foundation.

I am planning the November issue of the Eclipse Newsletter, currently at 272,000 subscribers and need article contributors. The theme is Jakarta EE.

Details about the article

  • The article can be a pre-existing article/blog post that is recycled for this newsletter.

  • Length should be 500 words or more, but it really depends on the content.

  • Format: HTML, Gdoc or plain text.

  • Visual-aids are always a good idea (images, gifs, videos, code snippets, etc).

  • The article should be technical but written in a way so that beginners and advanced users can understand it.

  • Deadline for content: Nov 9

Sample Articles

Please let me know by this Friday if any of you are interested in writing an article. I am available to answer any questions or concerns.

Thank you,

Stephanie
