Re: [incubation] Take me off your distribution

The script has been disabled. Nobody will be automatically subscribed.

I'm not sure what caused the problem with the issue report, but it appears to exist now. Please direct further communication on this topic to that record [1].

If you need help with your subscription, connect with webmaster@xxxxxxxxxxx

Please note that the purpose of this list is to provide a means to ask general questions about being a committer on an Eclipse Foundation open source project. While many of the recent questions have been concerned with release engineering, that is not the purpose of this list.

Looking at the linked to bug[1] all I see is "Bug #512460 does not exist." however the implementation of this auto-subscribe is not the problem. The fact that it is happening at all is.

It is NEVER acceptable to sign someone up to a mailing list without their permission. You are lucky that I haven't automatically blocked this list and started reporting every message from it as SPAM.

By all means require me to subscribe to the incubation list, but I MUST be allowed to do that myself, in my own way. You do not know which e-mail address I want to use for this mailing list, and I have not given anyone permission to use this e-mail address in this way.

Please discontinue this use of this bot immediately.

Strictly speaking, I believe that the implied question was answered yes.

Assuming that the question that you're thinking of is more along the lines of "do I have to be on this mailing list?" then the answer is yes.

I've opened a bug [1] to discuss changing this implementation.

So the answer to this question is "no"?

Membership in this list is automatic if you are a committer on an Eclipse Foundation project in the incubation phase. The purpose of this list is to provide a means for new project committers to learn about Eclipse process and have a forum for asking newbie questions. As a general policy, we try to avoid lengthy discussion on this list in favour of redirecting conversations into appropriate forums.

In that spirit, I'd rather avoid a lengthy discussion about membership in this list on the list; if you feel strongly that we need to change our inclusion policy, please open a bug and those who are interested can discuss the issue there.

MrP, Theresa, arcanefoam, and Stephen, you are no longer listed as committers in our database. Luca, I have no record of you being a committer (I searched on your email address and last name but came up empty). You should all be able to remove yourselves from the list.

If you're still having trouble, email me directly and we'll sort this out.

I have tried many times to get off the list using your listed procedures and many confirmation eMails saying I am off the list but it never works.

I did not want to spam this list but I see no other way at this point.
