A graph is a conceptual tool and the term "node" is a term that is part of that concept, irrespective of what a graph is used to represent.    But in the HGG data model, "nodes" represent entities in the Identity system. 
 
So if you are referring to the graph abstractly, then "node" seems ok.  But in the context of HGG, aren't we trying to name the items represented by nodes in the graph?
 
Leaning towards entity (but staying away from voting :-)

Anyone who votes for entity has the extra burden of suggesting a second word to replace “real world” entities (like people, objects, organizations, software programs, etc.) that are being represented by a node-whatever.
