Hi Richard,
Yes, the zipped examples should not be in the SDK. This is
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=226511 that we raised earlier
on. The zipped examples were not in the SDK in previous releases.

To be more clear...
The *.examples.pde.ui will still be available in the SDK, along with the
zipped examples. What won't be present are the example plug-ins themselves
in the SDK, which is causing the current installation dependency and UI
pollution issue.
