Re: [geomesa-users] geomesa-users Digest, Vol 15, Issue 15

Hi Mike,

That is the impression I have as well. I do not think GeoMesa and Sqrrl are currently compatible.

I am going to start looking at other ways to meet my needs. Currently I am planning on using a Sqrrl instance and a normal Accumulo instance and storing only Geo Spatial data in the normal Accumulo through GeoMesa. I think I can then just have Sqrrl hold references to the geospatial data that is stored in the other Accumulo. A Java class will be in front of the two instances and will make it appear that all the data is coming from a single store. This is all very much just drawings on a whiteboard right now, so I don’t know if the approach will succeed.

Thanks for getting back to me.

Jon

Hi Jonathan,

I've been tinkering with GeoMesa and Accumulo, and since Sqrrl is a local company here in Cambridge, I've got direct connections I could pass along email me off-list if you're curious. They'v even released some of the docker-accumulo, SaltStack and puppet scripts you can find out there.

Sqrrl actually employs some of the original Accumulo authors and are usually the ones replying most often on the accumulo-users mailing list. They probably have more knowledge in-house about Accumulo than the GeoMesa team!

However, their core business is not about running hosted Accumulo instances, but offering their own analytics products on of large, sensitive sets of data. You probably won't find them to be eager in helping you get GeoMesa running on a Sqrrl oriented Accumulo cluster, which is likely to be finely tuned to their core offerings and not GeoMesa. I say this because I barked up this tree already ... in person with them! :)

Hello,

I am trying to determine if GeoMesa is compatible with Sqrrl. I know that GeoMesa works with a standard Accumulo instance, but I am curious if it can also be used with Sqrrl. For those who don't know, Sqrrl is an enterprise Accumulo solution:  http://sqrrl.com

Does anyone have any experience using these two technologies together?

Thanks,
