Re: [ejb-dev] Items for a potential Plan Review

Hi,

I'm just a bystander but would like to share my thoughts. If I interpret your thoughts correctly Vano, you are proposing that the EJB spec starts efforts to phase itself out of the platform? If that is indeed the shared vision for EJB, then I agree that efforts should be made to add desired EJB features to other specs like CDI, and leave EJB as untouched as possible. I know thoughts have been shared regarding in discussions that were started for features in Jakarta EE 10.

Kind regards,

Edwin

Hello,

I think we need to concentrate on absorbing EJB features by other specs and leave the EJB spec untouched.

On the other hand if we remove some ancient and rarely used features, it will ease implementation of full profile by other vendors.

Kind regards,
Vano

All,

Several specification projects have filed plan reviews for Jakarta EE 10.  We're actually fairly unique in that we were the only specification project aside from the Platform and Activation to file a plan review for Jakarta EE 9 which delivered just last December.  We also had a fair bit of work for the Jakarta EE 9.1 release in dealing with the javax.rmi dependency and further reducing CORBA usage.

Do we have more items that we would want to get done for Jakarta EE 10 or would people prefer to focus on other specifications?

If there are items and everyone agrees they want to deliver on them, we should get a plan review in place.
