[eclipse.org-committers] Upcoming changes to the Eclipse organisation on

Hi Everyone,

  I wanted to let you know that we are planing[1] to make some changes to the Eclipse organisation on Github starting in September 2024.

When we started using Github we created just a single organisation to hold our projects, and now we have 280 repositories in this single organisation which is not only an admin headache, but also a potential security nightmare.

Starting in September we'll be filing Gitlab issues to separate these repositories into new per-project organisations which has been our standard process for the last couple of years.  We're aiming to have these moves completed by/in Q1 2025, and we'll be starting with projects with the largest number of repositories to move.

Githubs redirects should help make this process fairly painless for everyone, but affected projects will need to update their local remote URLs and any build scripts that reference the old URLs.
