[eclipse-ide-wg] IDE Working Group Elections for 2024 Coming Soon!

Dear All,

Eclipse Foundation Working Group Charters identify the key committees that drive the various facets of each Eclipse Working Group for which there are annual elected positions to be filled. In the case of the Eclipse IDE Working Group Charter, it indicates the Steering Committee has elected positions to represent the Supporter and Committer Members.

Strategic Members each have a representative appointed to this committee, and thus Strategic member companies do not participate in this election.

The Eclipse Foundation plans to hold the 2024 Eclipse IDE elections on behalf of the

working group starting on September 5th with a view to have the election complete prior to the end of September.

Please note the following phases all elections follow:

  1. Working Group Election Announcement

  2. Nomination Phase (Call for Nominations/Extensions)

  3. Nomination Acceptance Phase - Confirmation, Bio’s and Pictures Submissions

  4. Notice of Candidates Standing Phase

  5. Ballot Distribution Phase

The exact timelines for each of the phases will be announced in an email on September 6th.

The election process will follow the Eclipse “Single Transferable Vote” method, as

defined in the Eclipse Bylaws.

All members are encouraged to consider nominating someone for the positions, and

self-nominations are more than welcome!  Nominations must be received to the general mailing by required deadline in order to be considered.   Please wait for the official announcement before doing so.

Membership Nomination Eligibility:

For Supporter Members all individuals who are employed by an organization that is a member of that class in the working group may stand for election.  Supporter Members are: EclipseSource, Kichwa Coders Canada Inc., and VMWare, Inc.

Committer Members from the Eclipse IDE List of Projects (projects under the purview of the working group) are eligible to stand for election.  Committers may be considered members by virtue of either a) being employed by a working group corporate member, or b) an individual committer who has executed the Eclipse Foundation Membership Agreement as a Committer.   If you are interested but unsure if you are a Committer Member, please reach out to us.

Ballots will be distributed via email to the members of each constituency eligible to vote. Should a situation arise where a tie occurs, then a tie breaker will be performed virtually.  Please note that ballot distribution may be provided by the Eclipse Foundation via a third party election service.

Please reach out if you have any questions and stay tuned for the official election announcement next week!

Best Regards,

Zahra
