  • Thread-topic: Is Java 21 required for Eclipse 4.32 (2024-06)?

Hi,

We have upgraded our product based on Eclipse IDE to use the 2024-06, and did not upgraded Java, it is still running on Java 17  (because it is not mentioned in https://eclipse.dev/eclipse/development/readme_eclipse_4.32.php).

Afterwards we have found the very prominent announcement in https://www.eclipse.org/setups/sponsor/ saying that "The June 12th release of the Eclipse IDE 2024-06 - 4.32 requires Java 21".

Since we did not have any problems so far, and it is not mentioned in the readme (but Java 17 was mentioned in https://eclipse.dev/eclipse/development/readme_eclipse_4.25.php) we do not understand if Java 21 is required or not.

We prefer not to upgrade Java if it is not required, but we would upgrade if required.

Does anyone know if Java 21 is required?

Regards
