  • Thread-topic: Deadline Extension for Query Language subset of JPQL

This is a reminder that we have now reached the cutoff date (March 8) beyond which any pulls and issues that are not part of the Query Language feature need to be deferred to future and not worked on so that all of the focus can be on delivering the Query Language subset, the TCK for it, and getting at least one compatible implementation in alpha/beta in a downloadable location with official passing TCK results so that we can achieve component specification release review by the extended deadline.  The following issue tracks this progress:

Thank you to everyone for all of the contributions that you have made thus far!

Subject: [EXTERNAL] [data-dev] Requesting extension for Jakarta Data component specification for EE 11

Hi,

The Jakarta Data component specification would like to request an extension out to 2024/05/31 of the component specification deadline for submitting for release review for Jakarta EE 11, so that we can include a Query Language that is of importance to a vendor that is expected be used in the Web Profile compatible implementation.

Here is the agreement that we have worked out together with Ed Burns in order to make this possible. Please let us know if this is acceptable and if an extension can be granted under these conditions.

Jakarta Data specification committers must agree to limit the scope

for additional changes beyond the current state of the spec as

   follows:

      - Define the Jakarta Data Query Language as a subset of JPQL.

      - Author TCK tests for the Query Language.

      - For other work that is in progress, if not agreed on by

committers and merged by 2024-03-08, then it must be deferred

        to Future.

      - Defer all other issues/pulls to Future (including those which

have not yet been opened) in order to focus on getting the

Query Language and its TCK complete.

      - Have all of the TCK tests passing by 2024-04-19.

      - Agree to create a Jakarta Data 1.0 release candidate by 2024-04-19.

      - Remaining time to be used for at least one published

compatible implementation to be available in minimum alpha

        form.

      - Submit for component specification release review for 2024-05-31.
