Re: [cross-project-issues-dev] Provider and feature names

Searching on "EGit" requires insider knowledge.

I contend that virtually the entire user community doesn't know or care about "EGit" or the feature id; what I expect that most of our estimated six million non-committer users do look for is "Git".

In fact, they probably don't look for Git at all because it's already installed in all of the packages that the user community cares about.

I do like the suggestion of prefixing related features (e.g. "Git - Integration with Task-Focused UI", or something), but agree that it'd be more ideal if the UI allowed for better grouping options.

Searching on descriptions will only be useful if useful descriptions are provided. I believe that I can reasonably assert that our feature descriptions are--with some exceptions--not useful.

I agree. Actually, EGit is exactly the contribution that I always have
trouble finding in the simrel repository. Because I always search by project
name and only remember that that doesn't work for EGit after scratching my
head at the empty search result for a few seconds...

So another -1 for dropping the short project name (at least until search
includes matches in description text and maybe even feature id).
