Re: [che-dev] [ecd-pmc] Committer Election for Tina Kurian on Eclipse Che has started

Thanks for that link, Florent. AFAICT, as of the start of this election, the candidate had made only this one commit against an Eclipse Che project repository. This does not feel like sufficient public demonstration that the candidate has experience with the Eclipse Che project code or the Eclipse Foundation Development Process.

Note that one of the purposes behind holding a public committer election is to demonstrate to others who are watching the project what steps they need to take to get committer status (level playing field and all). I wrote about this recently.

What is the relationship between Eclipse Che and devworkspace-operator? AFAICT it is third-party content, but I don't see any vetted license information on it (i.e., I can't identify a CQ or see any evidence of it in ClearlyDefined).

PMC, it's not at all clear to me why this candidate cannot follow the usual path of having a few commits merged before being elected. If we need this candidate to be a committer on the project, then surely they can start by making a pull request or two.

To be clear, contributions to an upstream technology don't generally count as merit for an Eclipse open source project. Expertise in particular technology is certainly a valuable consideration; but candidates for committer status must also demonstrate that they understand our processes.

A committer election for Tina Kurian on project Eclipse Che (ecd.che) was
started by Sergii Leshchenko with this criteria:

Tina Kurian recently started as a full-time employee on the Eclipse Che team
and has already made an impact on the project.

She hasn't made direct PRs against Che repositories, but
she did great bug fixes and improvements on DevWorkspace Operator end
which is extremely important on Eclipse Che since now we're moving Che to
DevWorkspace based on Devfile v2. So, please check her contributions:
- Clean up workspace resources when a workspace fails
https://github.com/devfile/devworkspace-operator/issues/338
- Invalid devfile should lead to failed workspace startup
https://github.com/devfile/devworkspace-operator/issues/356
- DevWorkspace should be failed when its pod has CrashLoopBackOff status
https://github.com/devfile/devworkspace-operator/issues/353
- Make DevWorkspace report its version better
https://github.com/devfile/devworkspace-operator/issues/377
- Get rid of Che Rest API sidecar
https://github.com/devfile/devworkspace-operator/issues/288
- Add readiness and liveness probe for controller and webhook server
https://github.com/devfile/devworkspace-operator/issues/236

For these reasons and the long-term outlook for their involvement on the
team, it is my pleasure to nominate Tina as a committer on Eclipse Che.
