Is it a good idea to configure the release build jobs to archive the artifact JARs and then link to the Hudson lastSuccessfulBuild?

It is, but I would also suggest to link to the latest released JARS (i.e 1.0.0) as I believe some people will typically want to consume those artifacts rather than nightly builds.

Yes, I meant the released JARs for the downloads only. We have specific release build jobs, which should have their own archive (e.g., https://hudson.eclipse.org/californium/job/californium.core-release/lastSuccessfulBuild/artifact/cf-*.jar)
