Re: [cargotracker-dev] Using Cargo Tracker in a book

This is most welcome indeed. In fact other folks have used the project in their Java/Jakarta EE related books/articles in the past.

Do you know we are working on migrating to Payara 6 and Jakarta EE 10 already: https://github.com/eclipse-ee4j/cargotracker/pull/237? Perhaps you could work with Hillmer and the Payara folks on the migration? The major hitch I believe has been Arquillian. Also, do let me know if you need help on the Azure part?

Hello,

My colleague Ron Veen and I are writing a book about migrating a Java EE 7 application to Jakarta EE 10 and moving it to a cloud environment. Our technical reviewer Edwin Derks pointed us to this amazing open-source project which would be a great example project of a real-world Java EE application.

We want to give you a heads-up about our intentions with this project. We would like to use the Java EE 7 branch as a starting point, and help the reader to migrate it to a Jakarta EE 10 application and beyond as a showcase for our book. We would like to tell the reader how to migrate to a cloud environment. At the moment we are targeting the Microsoft Azure cloud.

It's our intention to reignite the interest in Jakarta EE 10 with our book because we are enthusiastic about this technology. We hope to have informed you sufficiently and hope for your support when we have questions.

Kind regards,
David Vlijmincx
