Re: [automotive-pmc] PMC notification - new projects proposal Eclipse uProtocol-SDK

Having more initial committers is an ideal, but not a requirement in general.

Over time, we would certainly expect that the committer team will grow both in size and in diversity of interests represented.

Creating the project is an important ingredient in attracting additional participation. There's nothing like actual content to stimulate that sort of thing.

Hi Andreas,

Sure! The project is reportedly going to add more committers (we warned them that it would require election if it comes too late, but it's fine) soon, as it is backed by a big company (GM) and is part of the SDV initiative.
I'll ask them to try harder to add more committers asap and will let you know.

Thanks,

Hi Boris,

is it possible to get a bit more information about the project? Especially about the sister project https://projects.eclipse.org/proposals/eclipse-uprotocol-android/

We see there a low number of initial committers and asking ourselves, if the number is too low or fine …

Thx!

Best,

Andy

Hiho dear PMC,

Did you have time to consider the new Eclipse uProtocol-SDK proposal? We need your input to move forward.

Please respond to this message with a +1 if you're prepared to take on responsibility for overseeing the governance of this/these new project(s)

Proposal link: https://projects.eclipse.org/proposals/eclipse-uprotocol-sdk

Ticket link: https://gitlab.eclipse.org/eclipsefdn/emo-team/emo/-/issues/466

Project Description: Eclipse uProtocol-SDK provides a transport agnostic, layered communication protocol that builds on top of existing automotive and Internet standards, from the mechatronic layer up to the Cloud, to connect software defined vehicle components.

Thank you, have a nice week!
